Condition: Excellent
Case Size: 37mm
Material: Stainless steel
Description:
The 222 is one of Vacheron Constantin's most historically significant watches, carrying an incredible amount of heritage with it. The model first debuted in 1977 to commemorate the brand's 222nd anniversary, simultaneously positioning itself in the market as an answer to Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak (1972) and Patek Philippe's Nautilus (1976). The 222 fit right in with its two competitors aesthetically, featuring an all-stainless monobloc case and matching integrated bracelet – the sports watch "standard" of the seventies. The watch has remained largely unchanged since then, and this model is as true to the original as it gets, with two minor modern day updates. The case measures 37mm in diameter and features the classic Maltese cross on the bottom ride side of the case; two components taken straight from the original. The modernities of this watch are the display caseback and what the caseback shows off – Vacheron's in-house Caliber 2455/2 automatic movement with 40 hours of power reserve.
